More than 10 Indian schools participated at the 19th International Convention on Students Quality Circles held in Mauritius between July 17 and July 23. Beating 30 international schools to the pole position, the students from Suncity World School, Sector 53, Gurgaon bagged the ‘Overall Best Trophy’.
The school was represented by 15 students from Classes XI and XII at events like public speaking contest, debate competition, poster and slogan making competition and cultural programme.
Ranvijay, a Class XII student who is one of the winners, said, “It was an enriching experience for us. We met people from different countries including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Mauritius. They even helped us understand the world and ourselves better.”
The team also won the first prize for their presentation on statistical research on the topic ‘Low Educator-Educatee Equation’.
The confidence of the students was lauded by one and all. The students specially treasured a remark made by the principal of a private school in Pakistan.
He said, “I do not know how much students of Suncity have learnt here but other participants definitely have a lot to learn from Suncity School.”
“Such events allow children and educators to explore more venues for better education. It is a very proud moment for the school,” said Rupa Chakravarty, principal, Suncity World School, Sector 53.
