Surat Teacher booked for thrashing Student for bringing street food

A physical education teacher of T&TV High School was booked on Saturday by the Police for allegedly thrashing a student of class VIII for bringing street food to school.

Dipak Gamit, a physical education teacher of T&TV High School was booked on Saturday by the Police for allegedly thrashing Rupesh, a student of class VIII for bringing street food to school. The teacher was booked for non-cognizable offence and will be detained. The incident took place on Friday.

 Som Kumar Sharma, 49, father of Rupesh, lodged a complaint at Athwalines police station after his son complained of pain in his hands and back.

Sharma alleged in his complaint that Rupesh asked his friend to bring snacks from a roadside shop. The teacher allegedly saw Rupesh get street food to school after which he hit him on his hands, twisted them and also punched him several times.

A M Captain, police inspector, Athwalines police station said "The schoolteacher has been booked. We will detain him as per procedure for a non-cognizable crime."
