Inspired by the Centrally- funded Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya (JNV), UP got its first model school, the Samajwadi Abhinav Vidyalaya (SAV) on Saturday. SAV is an extension of the scheme of the earlier Central government, wherein 6,000 model schools were planned to be established across the country but the scheme was withdrawn when the current government came in power.
Out of the total quota of 6,000, UP was to get 193 across 18 zones, including 3 in the Allahabad zone. The other 2 proposed schools would be at Kamala Nagar of Bhadurpur block and at Urwa block of Allahabad district.
"We have tried to provide you all the facilities. Now it is up to you to take advantage of the same. You might be able to make Dandupur famous," said the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav during his inauguration speech.
After the Central government withdrew the scheme, the state government took it upon itself to provide 1 model school in each district, the Dandupur school being the first in the series.
The school is currently affiliated to UP board but efforts are on to get CBSE affiliation. The school would be a co-ed educational one with hostel facility and will focus on enhancing English-speaking skills of the students. Starting with classes Vi to IX, the school will have 35 students per class.
What’s more the school will be eco-friendly as it will run on power derived from solar panels installed on its roof.
