In what can only be explained as a stroke of bad luck, an inexplicable error left a junior college aspirant with a score of 99.8% in her SSC exam without a seat in any college in Mumbai. Even after scoring almost cent-per-cent she will now have to wait till the fag end of the admission process when online admissions close on July 15 to apply to colleges where she can secure a seat subject to availability.

This brilliant student from a Kalyan school was shocked to read on the online admission portal that she had not been allotted a seat. "With my marks, I was very confident of securing a seat in the college of my choice, but I was shocked to see the message pop up," she said.

Inquiring with the office of the deputy director of education, Mumbai revealed that although the student's form was filled up on June 10 and 11 but was reset on June 16 and consequently never filled again

“The student's form must have been reset by the school. This could have been done on her request. Since the form was never filled up again, she has not been allotted a seat," an official from the department said. It has also come to light that she had filled up the online admission form with assistance from her school. The school denied having reset the form. Department officials, too, denied any mistake on their part.
