In a catchy Thai country music tune, Worrawut Lakchai, a 41-year-old high school teacher in rural Udon Thani province, reminds his community to monitor their body temperature, wear masks and wash their hands. “If you have a fever, 37.5 or over, you need to immediately see a doctor,” go the lyrics of the song sung by this incredible teacher dressed as Batman.

He says he was initially inspired to wear the ‘Batman’ costume because the Coronavirus is rumoured to have come from bats, but there was more to it. “Batman is a superhero who doesn’t have any magical powers but he can fight his enemies with his own strength. Similarly, we have to fight a deadly disease with our strength and awareness,” he adds.

This version of Batman wears a traditional Thai loincloth instead of the superhero’s black trunks. His song goes on sharing important preventive measures and tips which he feels are necessary to share with the people. “Eat hot food, use serving spoons, wash your hands. It’s what we must do, to fight corona,” signs Worrawut.

As entertaining and inspiring the commendable educator’s methods are, it reminds the world that teachers are an elite group. Whatever may be the difficulty, they always manage to find an innovative and encouraging solution for their dear students.
