The Bihar toppers scam notwithstanding, IPS officer’s son cracks IIT.

At a time when the Bihar education system is riddled with scams, frauds and allegations. Ishan Tarunesh, the son of IG Sunil Kumar has scored 33 all India and rank 1 in Guwahati zone in IIT entrance.

The Bihar education system has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. First the rampant cases of cheating over the years and now the alleged cheating by this year’s toppers. Amidst all this negative news there is a silver lining too. A student hailing from Patna has cracked the IIT and has ranked 33 all-India and 1 In Guwahati zone.

Hardworking Ishan Tarunesh, is the son of IPS officer Sunil Kumar who is currently serving as Inspector-General of Tirhut zone in Bihar.

Ishan Tarunesh passed his class XII exams from Baldwin Academy in Patna and class X from St. Michael School. Ishan shared that he has been taking coaching classes through FIITJEE since class IX and wishes to someday become an engineer.

"I am very happy to clear IIT and get 33rd rank. I was hopeful of being in the top 100 but never expected to be in top 50", said Ishan.

Ishan has already made his choice to pursue computer science in IIT Bombay, after which, he wants to go abroad for higher studies. Finally he wants to return to India and contribute his to the nation. Ishan also said that policing never attracted him despite his father being an IPS officer.

Expectedly, Ishan's parents are extremely proud of their son's achievement. "Yes, as a father it’s a very proud moment for me. Not going for civil services or becoming a police officer was my son's choice," said IG Sunil Kumar.

"My son was working hard for last 2 years. He deserves to clear IIT and we are very happy", added Sandhya, mother of Ishan.
