Laughing in the class has always been an act of disturbance and interruption, hence teachers usually don’t find it improper to tell their students to stop this ‘nuisance.’ But what if we told you that this harsh instruction is rooted in these growing brains and is actually putting a pause on their happiness.

Recently, a survey conducted by NCERT showed how only 20% of students are happy in their lives. Shocking, right? The experts found that, apart from the existing stress of homework and examination and the pressure from guardians, the scolding from their teachers is further stopping them from being themselves.

Looking at these alarming statistics, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya and ICSE have decided to start Laughing Classes once a week in their schools, commencing the upcoming session. In this Laughing Class, the students can laugh as loudly as they want. Here, they’ll be free to share jokes, enact, mimic, and entertain their friends.

To supervise this class, teachers would be chosen on the basis of their ability to connect with their pupil, listen to their problems and resolve them. This initiative is taken in hopes of increasing the Happiness Index amongst these students and relieve them of tension that they undergo on a regular basis. ScooNews strongly believes and suggests that every school should adopt the concept of Laughing Class to alleviate some stress from their students’ lives.
