Lesson of the day spoken by a painted face, funny voice, and a colourful wig – this is the way a US-based teacher is engaging the kids during her online classes. Result? Kids are learning and looking forward to it every day. Meet Heidi Bruder, a teacher at Calvary Christian Academy in West Branch, US, who is ensuring her students learn the fun-way in her theme-based online classes in this Corona-stricken world.
For her students, it’s not just a Wednesday virtual classroom, it’s a Wacky Wednesday class. “Hey guys, Happy Wednesday! This is Wacky Wednesday,” said paint-faced Bruder to her students as she continued to start the class, “I want you to identify the subject, the verb or verb phrase.”
She has been uploading her theme-based videos on Facebook every day at 9 am with an intention to engage kids with entertaining education. “I want them to sign in each day so that just with the thought ‘Oh, what’s Mrs Bruder going to be wearing or what’s she going to be looking like,’ because if they do that, I’ve got them. Then I can teach,” Bruder explained.
Her efforts are being absolutely loved and admired by both kids and their parents. In fact, she is now showered with ideas for her videos. Bruder shared, “Now that people know I’m doing this, I’m getting ideas from people saying ‘Hey, have you tried this? I can make it four more weeks and 16 more costumes.”
Teachers have been the rock and support during these times and ScooNews applauds Bruder and millions of teachers like her, who are putting commendable efforts to educate kids in these tough times as well.
