Classrooms are becoming smart, children are becoming smarter, naturally to teach these smarter kids the teachers need to be 2 steps ahead. So most teachers too use smart technology to assist them in teaching or enhancing their productivity.

ScooNews did a quick survey of 200 teachers across Jaipur and Delhi to find out which apps do teachers carry in their phones?

Here are the 10 most popular apps that teachers and administrators are using and highly recommended for educators.

1.    Duolingo

This simple to use app is useful in learning a new language. With a simple bilingual interface, the app takes you step by step towards more complex usage of a language.

2.    Instructables

This app is a treasure trove of more than a 100,000 DIY projects. From science experiments to merit badges, this app offers clear and step-by-step instructions. Looking for a classroom maker project? You’ll find it here. Did your students create something awesome? They can now share their project with the world by uploading the project along with its instructions.

3.    OneNote

OneNote is a digital notebook for your to-do lists, lecture and meeting notes, or anything you want to organize or remember. Type or jot down notes, record audio or snap a picture and OneNote saves it. The app is very user friendly so you will find your notes sync across all your devices so you can access them wherever you go. And you can easily share your notes with others.
With Microsoft OneNote, teachers can create notebooks that help them stay organized, deliver curriculum, and collaborate with students and colleagues.

4.    Educreations

This app makes it easy to create new videos for learning. For example, “it’s a great tool for explaining math strategies with voice, pen and screen recorder,” says TED-Ed community member Melissa Julian. ”It also lets students make learning resources for other children to use.”

5.    ScooTalks

This app is becoming rapidly popular among educators. It is a cloud-based platform similar to “Facebookand WhatsApp”, however it is far more secure considering the end usage by a close group like schools.Teachers can directly share information about the daily class lessons, assignments, videos, the portion covered in class. This app is turning out to be an excellent collaborative tool between parents and teachers who want to jointly work on the student’s academic progress.

This app is best used to map out the relationships between ideas. For complex group projects, it can also provide a way to quickly visualize and create a project outline, together.Mindmeister is an ideal collaborative tool which can bring together the work of different individuals or sub-groups.

7.    Wikispaces Classroom

Wikispaces Classroom is built for educators! Tangient LLC (the company behind this app) built everything a teacher and her class needs to read, write, and work together including a news feed, wiki pages, projects, and more. This is available for free to educators.

8.    Podcasts by Apple

Podcast is an app that allows access to thousands of podcasts (audio recordings). It also allows educators to create their own station to upload audio lessons specific to your class. Students can download from these podcasts on to their personal computers or other devices. The great things about Podcasts is that students can listen to them whenever they want, as many times as they want and at their own pace.

9.    TED

TED is the warehouse of inspiration. Whatever be the topic, be it core subjects or human skills like humility, inspiration, grit you will find an interesting talk in there. TED presents talks from some of the world’s most fascinating people on all kinds of subjects. All these conferences are available for free on the app.

10.    YouTube

The ever-popular YouTube has specially created a section for educators – www.youtube.com/teachers to help leverage videos to educate, engage and inspire their students. Here you will find tips and tricks for bringing YouTube into the classroom, as well as over 400 video playlists curated by CUE and aligned with the Common Core. This portal is part of YouTube's larger educational initiative, YouTube EDU, featuring more than 700K educational videos created by leading experts and organizations such as PBS, TED-Ed, and Khan Academy.
