Art is more than an expression of creativity, it can also be used to push people towards doing something good when times are against. Something similar was done by sixty-odd students of Mildred High School in Texas. These art students joined forces with The Humane Society of Navarro County/Corsicana Animal Shelter and LARA’s House Shelter in Mexia to help raise funds for distressed animals. The motive of the kids was to monetarily help the shelters, they did so via two online auctions to raise money for spaying/neutering of strays.

Students painted adorable portraits of animals that are waiting to be adopted, which were then donated to be auctioned by the respective shelters. These children were given photographs of the animals since due to COVID they could not take their annual field trip. This did not stop them from making amazing paintings and donating them to the shelters to raise about 1000/- dollars! The auctions started in November 1st week and are still running, though will be ending soon.

Good news is some kids are personally interested in adopting the animals they painted!

It's inspiring to see how this attitude of helping those who cannot speak for themselves has become a tradition in this school. Kudos to the educators as well who equally support the idea and encourage their students via art.

We believe that art is a strong tool to nurture and motivate young minds. Using it, children can actually be taught compassion, tolerance, to fight against ignorance and equality for all.
