Just when the Yadav family had lost all hope for Vaishali Yadav's treatment, she wrote a letter to the PM Narendra Modi on May 13, seeking help for treating a hole in her heart as her father and uncle, who're wall painters, were unable to afford the Rs 2.5 lakh procedure.
It was during Diwali 2015, when Vaishali, who is six years old, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), which left her with a 33mm hole between the upper chambers of her heart.
District collector Saurabh Rao, on instructions from the PMO, arranged for the treatment. Following which Rao held discussions with the health department and fixed the hospital for Vaishali's treatment.
Rao said, " An email was received from PMO explaining Vaishali's case on May 28. Since the case was from Pune, it was referred to me. Vaishali in her letter mentioned the name of her school. Our team visited the school to get her residence address and contact details. We then called a joint meeting of health department officials, hospitals and family members to finalize the hospital." He said that a detailed report has been sent to the PMO explaining the steps taken.
A letter singed by Debashree Mukherjee, joint secretary , PMO, extended appreciation for the necessary help extended by Ruby Hall Clinic.
The PMO and the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis appreciated and congratualted Rao and his team's prompt effort on twitter.
Meanwhile, the BJP president Yogesh Gogawale visited the Yadav family's home in Bhekrainagar. As promised earlier, Gogawale gave Vaishali textbooks, notebooks and drawing books, along with pencil sets, tiffin set and a backpack required for Class 2. He also gave the family money to purchase new school uniforms. The BJP resident was accompanied by Ravi Bhushan, HR head of a private oilfield machinery company , based in Bhor. Bhushan handed over a call letter to Pratap (Vaishali's uncle), offering him a oneyear skill training programme at the company beginning June 20, under the government's `Make in India' campaign.
Vaishali, who aims to become an engineer one day, wrote another heartwarming letter to the PM; "I wrote 'Thank You Modiji' in the letter, and sent him a drawing with it," told the grateful little girl.
The drawing is precious as it is the first drawing Vaishali has made after her recovery from the surgery on June 4. Her stitches will be removed on Tuesday.
