To improve the functioning of schools, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur announced to create the post of vice principal in all senior secondary schools in state. He also announced that the nomenclature of post graduate teachers (PGT) posted in schools would then be changed to lecturer. A notification on the same would be issued soon.
Addressing the 4th regional seminar of the Himachal Pradesh Teachers Union at Gondpur Banhera, CM made these announcements. He stressed on value-added education and said that it is the duty of teachers to inculcate high moral values among the students for a strong and vibrant society. He also added that despite being a small state, Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged the best state education and the credit goes to the teachers for it.
Towards the end, he asked the teachers to come forward to check the increasing tendency of cheating during examinations and also take steps to counter the ever increasing menace of drug abuse.
