In a groundbreaking move, the Assam government has unveiled its grand vision to construct a minimum of 4,000 state-of-the-art schools throughout the state over the course of the next five years. This momentous decision was revealed by officials on Monday, marking a significant milestone for education in the region.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over a pivotal meeting with the education department’s key officials on Sunday, where they delved into the intricacies of this transformative project. State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu was also in attendance, underlining the government’s commitment to this monumental endeavor.
The state government has set a formidable target of completing the construction of these 4,000 state-of-the-art schools by 2028. Chief Minister Sarma articulated the significance of this initiative, stating, “Assam is embarking on its most extensive educational undertaking ever. We are poised to construct 4,000 state-of-the-art schools by 2028, which means adding two new schools every single day for the next five years.”
Furthermore, Chief Minister Sarma disclosed that the state government is earmarking a substantial amount of Rs 5 crore for the infrastructural development of high schools situated in Assam’s villages over the forthcoming years. These grants will be disbursed to the respective schools in a phased manner, aiming to have a profound impact on rural areas.
