The Central Board of Secondary Education and NCERT has taken some important steps in order to restore the normal academic routine affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a welcome move from the board as schools and students are facing issues in keeping up with the regular academic calendar.
The Board is considering to take a rational approach in the matter of syllabus for class 9 to 12 for the next academic year to make up for the valuable time lost during the lockdown.
The NCERT had also announced an alternative academic calendar last week to help out the students of class 1 to 5 who are studying at home during the lockdown. The council is currently working on a similar plan for higher classes.
“NCERT has come out with revised activities calender for classes 1-8, the CBSE assessing the situation and time loss to rationalise syllabus for classes 9-12 and inform in due course of time,” a senior Board officer informed.
The period of the lockdown was extended to 21 more days after the announcement of the honourable Prime Minister on the 14th of April. During the lockdown period, many schools opted for classes through online platforms, but there were no specific guidelines to follow.
“The alternate calendar contains week-wise plan consisting of interesting and challenging activities, with reference to theme or chapter taken from syllabus or textbook” added the NCERT official.
