There is no profession as important as teaching children and Tatahir Fatima, the head teacher at a government Urdu school in Bihar just showed this with rare grace, skill, good humour and abundant love.

She didn't even miss taking her class on her wedding day. Fatima is a teacher at Government Urdu School, Lashkaripur village under Lahladpur block of Saran district, which is about 100 kilometres from Patna.

Saturday April 9th was her 'Nikah', and the next day (Sunday) her 'Bidai', reported The Times of India, and she still made sure she taught her class on both days. Being an Urdu school, it has a weekly off on Friday.

"I didn't like the idea of taking long leave for my marriage as my priority has been to teach my students," she said.

There are four teachers in this co-educational primary school, who teach about 145 students. Established in 1954, the school has no boundary wall, library, playground, computers, or medical aid. There are three classrooms where all students from class 1 to 5 study.

Saran’s district education officer (DEO) C.K.P. Yadav said, “This is certainly a praiseworthy step, which must get wide appreciation.”

ScooNews salutes Tatahir Fatima and wishes her the best in the mission to make a difference in her students’ life.
