How amazing it is that we can now watch a rocket go Live sitting in a comfortable gallery, isn't it? In the past, ISRO’s new initiative has allowed civilians to witness the spectacle first hand and feel the thrill.

P.M. Modi, in his latest session of Mann ki Baat, applauded the initiatives taken by ISRO and how they can act as a catalyst to develop the scientific temper, specifically among the students.

"Children, youth in India are increasingly taking a keen interest in Science and Technology. When I was in Bengaluru during Chandrayan-2, I witnessed immense enthusiasm and fervour on part of children present there. There was no sign of drowsiness from any angle. To give a fillip to this very enthusiasm in children and young people, ISRO launched a facility to sit, watch rocket launching at Sriharikota. The online booking is also possible through a link provided on ISRO's website," P.M Modi said during Mann Ki Baat, a monthly radio program where he addresses the nation.

Adding to the excitement, we now have a new plan that allows school kids to take part in the launch and hence, naturally draw them towards the wonders of science. The PM shared his thoughts about Yuva Vigyani Karyakram or YUVIKA which is another new initiative by the government. It includes a two-week program where students will be visiting labs and facilities during their summer holidays and attend special sessions where eminent scientists will share their experience and discuss interesting topics with them.

The program is in line with the vision of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anushandhan.”

"Yuvika program was launched for school students in the year 2019. Yuvika is an acronym for Yuva Vigyani Karyakram and this program is in consonance with our vision, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan. In this program, students after their exams and during their holidays, visit different centres of ISRO and learn about Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications. If you wish to be a participant of this training, you can register by visiting the website of Yuvika linked to that ISRO," Modi added.

The objective of the program is to impart a fundamental understanding of space technology in young ones and embed a scientific outlook in them. Three students from each UT and State will be given the opportunity for residential training that will take place in VSSC, URSC, SAC and NESAC and will also include visits to SDSC and SHAR.

Scoonews thinks this is an extraordinary chance provided to the students and that parents and educators must encourage their little ones to work hard and grab the opportunity.
