2. To Sir, With Love (1967)

It’s a classic and is considered so for a reason. This is a 1967 British film that throws light on social and racial issues in a city school. A freshly graduate engineer joins a London school as a teacher, which is filled with troublemakers. He then, with his calm demeanour, changes the course of the students. The film was loved worldwide and was also remade in Hindi – Imtehaan.

3. Blackboards (2000)

It is an Iranian movie that focuses on Kurdish itinerant teachers. In the war-surrounded mountains, a group of teachers, each carrying a blackboard, trudge in search of a village with children to teach. On their journey, they explore different stories, different people, different situations, sometimes using their blackboards as a shield to shootings from helicopters.

4. Etre Et Avoir (2002)

This is a French documentary based in rural France, where a school teacher educates 12 children, aged between 4 to 11 years old, in a tiny classroom. The dedicated teacher uses traditional French tools to teach not only academics but also human & life. As the movie progresses, we see students minds develop remarkably.

This 1989 movie is set in 1959, starring the legendary Robin Williams as an English teacher in an elite all-boys school. Considered as one of the best school movies, this one is cited as an inspiration for generations. He uses unorthodox methods to encourage and reach out to students, who are under enormous parents’ pressure.

A story of a teacher, struggling to speak without a break given to her suffering from Tourette Syndrome, whose passion is to become a teacher.
