Here’s How To Participate In ATL Student App Innovation Challenge

The year 2020 has made the world innovate all aspects of human living on this planet, and while addressing the various challenges of this decade, the world has leveraged the latest technologies of 21st century. We are at the crux of the Digital Age, and ‘App Development’ is a key skill which students must learn and leverage at a young age to become innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog in collaboration with NASSCOM and support from industry and academia partners has launched the ATL Student App Innovation Challenge on 15th October 2020.

Expected Project Outcome: To enable young innovators of schools across the country to learn the concepts of App Development and to develop an App which addresses the Key Focus Areas of the challenge. The Top teams shall be recognized with interesting opportunities and prizes at the conclusion of the Challenge.

Technology and Mentorship:

The Innovations by the student teams to be aligned to one of the Key Focus Area addressing a community/ local challenge. The final entry of the innovation will be in form of an App, developed on any Open-Source/ Free platform OR using the ATL App Development Module. ATL In-Charge, School Teachers, Mentors of Change, Alumni and external mentors from the local ATL ecosystem may support the student teams.

Team Composition:

Each Team shall consist of a maximum of 3 students (class 6th to 12th) and one ATL In-charge/ School  Teacher  (must be an employee of the ATL School).  We encourage ATL schools to also include other school and/or community students within the Team Composition.

Focus Areas:

Each team must select one Focus Area based on their interest and problem statement. Each unique App/Submission must be submitted in one Focus Area only. Submitting the same App in multiple focus areas will result in immediate disqualification.

The Focus Areas are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Indicative Focus Areas are as follows:

  • Agri-Tech
  • COVID-19 Response
  • Sports and Fitness
  • Gamification (Education and Entertainment)
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing

A group of eminent Jury members comprising of Industry Experts/Academicians/Scientist/Researchers shall be formulated to evaluate the shortlisted entries of the Challenge.

The Top teams shall be recognized with interesting opportunities and prizes at the conclusion of the Challenge.
