Bookish knowledge is nothing without imagination, wisdom and innovation. For no man ever became successful without ideas of his own. Look at Steve Jobs or Bill Gates; successful people with bag loads of imagination. So why confine ourselves to desks and books? To notebooks smeared with inks of blue and black? The mind responds to stimuli, and stimuli are generated only when we encounter something different.
In the daily life of an everyday student, he interacts with teachers, his peers, his notebooks and the blackboard at the front of his class. But what if, his mind was open to new possibilities; possibilities that lie outside the box, where the real train of thought began?
With this very thought in mind, the education officials of our country began to ponder upon the thought of the introduction of imagination and innovation. Like playground, to establish laboratories, where students could foster the do-it-yourself mode.
NITI Aayog took it upon itself to introduce the idea of Atal tinkering Labs, one of the three initiatives by Atal Innovation Mission, to the education departments of all the states as well as the union territories. With plans to fund 500 such labs across the schools of India, NITI Aayog urged schools to consider the thought in hope that it would revolutionize teaching in India.
Additionally, AIM has planned to support 100 Atal Incubation Centres and provide scale-up support for 10 of the established ones. Along with this, the other specifications of the scheme includes, providing proper infrastructure and mentoring support by with the decided funding of Rs 20 lakh.
High appreciation was shown towards the initiative by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Dr. S. C. Khuntia who stated that this was a step towards inculcating the sense of creativity and innovation in students with meagre resources and opportunities.
Improving the scheme through suggestion coming from all corners of the country is still underway.
This is yet another stepping stone towards the betterment and welfare of our country. Though, it is not the end.
