In the fourteenth PRAGATI interaction, the PM took special note of the progress towards handling and resolution of grievances related to school education and literacy. He observed that the people had now begun to expect a resolution from the government for such grievances.

It is said that change begins from the top and if the latest interaction by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through PRAGATI – the ICT-based, multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation is anything to go by a new wave of changes is set to hit the school education sector. In the fourteenth such interaction, the PM took special note of the progress towards handling and resolution of grievances related to school education and literacy.

He observed that the people had now begun to expect a resolution from the government for such grievances. The PM specifically instructed the officials to institute a system of measures taken to address grievances of students.

He goaded them to take maximum advantage of available technological tools and ensure that school-children do not face any inconvenience. As an illustration, he shared how he had earlier instructed all Ministries to take advantage of available space technology.

According to him, this could assist in proper location of examination centres and allow easy access for the students. Taking stock of the progress made by the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, the PM was made aware of the improvements in school accessibility, public buildings and railway stations etc.

During an appraisal of the progress of Aadhaar enrolment, it was noted that overall enrolment is now close to 105 crore, and special attention is being given to the North-Eastern States which are lacking in this regard.

The Prime Minister emphasises the importance of Aadhaar enrolment by states and asked them to speed up the enrolment of children in the age bracket of 5 to 18 so that scholarships and other educational benefits may be easily available to them.

As an aside the PM also reviewed infrastructure projects in the road, railway and power sectors, spread over several states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Maharashtra.
