With every extension, there has been a rearrangement of dates and introduction of effective ways to cope up with the unprecedented time. Here’s a list of updates from the Indian education world:

1.The revised dates for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal in a webinar on 5th May shared with the students that the JEE Advanced 2020 would be now conducted on August 23, 2020. He also announced that the NEET 2020 exam would be now conducted on July 26, 2020, which was earlier suggested to be conducted in June after the May 3 exam was cancelled.

2. CBSE Class 10 Board exams suspended for all except for North-East Delhi

The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ during his webinar with students mentioned that Class X board exams will be suspended nationwide, except for students from North-East Delhi. He also mentioned that Class X and XII students will be given an adequate time of 10 days to prepare for the exams.

 3. TN SSLC exam dates to be out in June

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations in a report stated that a confirmed date for the TN SSLC Exam 2020 will be announced in June. The Minister of School Education, Youth Welfare and Sports Development, K.A. Sengottaiyan said that the dates would be announced in the third week of June. “Steps are being taken to commence evaluation of answer sheets of Plus Two board examination in June and permission would be obtained from the Chief Minister,” said the minister.

4.Maharashtra SSC and HSC results expected to be out in June

Maharashtra govt is expected to declare class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examination results by June. They have also announced that teachers, moderators, and officials involved in the assessment of Class 10 and 12 exam papers will be allowed to travel for work during the COVID-19 Pan-India lockdown.

5.Telangana Students from classes 1 to 9 to get promoted without giving final exams

The Telangana government declared on 5th of May that all students of classes 1 to 9 will be promoted without any final examinations. The decision was taken due to the extended COVID-19 lockdown. An order from the Telangana government stated, "The government, after careful examination of the matter and keeping in view hardship caused due to COVID-19 pandemic, hereby decide to cancel the Summative AssessmentII Examinations for the Classes 1 to 9 and order to promote all the students of Classes 1 to 9 studying in Government, Aided and Private Unaided Schools during the Academic Year, 2019-20, to next higher Classes in the Academic Year, 2020-21,"

6. Mizoram private schools to charge 50% fee during the lockdown

After multiple appeals by students to exempt school fees during the lockdown, private schools in Mizoram will charge only 50 per cent fees from students for the lockdown period. The decision was taken at a meeting attended by officials of the education department, students' bodies, Mizoram Independent School Association (MISA), and other stakeholders.
