2 years after the BJP led government first proposed to link government institutions with Wifi connectivity; the government has at last prepared a list of 10 schools for the pilot project. Of these, there are 6 government-run institutions and 4 private schools, including Harmal Panchakroshi higher secondary school, run by a trust headed by chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

Even now the government has not committed to any specific timeline for setting it up, and it has already received a proposal from the Info Tech Corporation of Goa (ITG) to implement the pilot project at an estimated cost of ₹22.53 crore, for a period of 5 years.

If and when implemented, the connectivity will enable the students to take maximum advantage of laptops and tablets given under the cyberage scheme.

"The government has conducted an initial feasibility study to explore the possibility of providing Wifi connectivity in educational institutes across Goa in collaboration with NIC and the education department," Parsekar said.

When the Goa Broad Band Network (GBBN) was launched, the implementing company, United Telecom Limited, had expressed its desire to implement Goa's proposed CCTV surveillance project, city wifi and school wifi projects in July 2015, but the state government dragged its feet in implementing the project.

And till today the government is acting like a ponderous elephant with no sense of urgency or feeling of responsibility towards students who will benefit from wifi connectivity.
