There are many a talented students in rural areas, however, most do not receive the appropriate skills and training and hence fail to make a mark in life. Simply assisting students with science and English education can boost their academics and set them on the right path. Mysuru-based Ace Education Trust, in collaboration with United Breweries Limited, Nanjangud, has jointly set up Mini Science Centres in Nanjangud taluk to impart science education to children.

These science centers are set up in select schools and are designed to benefit students from class I to VII by teaching them basic science principles and concepts through working science models.

The project started off by setting up 2 centers last year in Hulimavu and Kempisiddanahundi. Buoyed by the good response 5 additional centers were installed in schools of Hadinaru, Bokkahalli, Srirampura, Thandavapura and Kanakadasa Government Higher Primary Schools in the same taluk. UBL’s contributions came through its Corporate Social Responsibility projects.

The positive impact of the initiative has not escaped Nanjangud BEO M Chandrakanth who agrees that initiatives like these help improve the quality of primary education in government schools.
