The Dell Foundation is backing this Indian edtech platform for K-12 kids.

India and Singapore based edu-startup ConveGenius has received an investment of USD 900,000 from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF). The startup is tackling a very important problem in the India context; it is providing access to quality educational materials to schools across India.

India and Singapore based edu-startup ConveGenius has received an investment of USD 900,000 from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF). The startup is tackling a very important problem in the India context; it is providing access to quality educational materials to schools across India.

ConveGenius follows a model where it curates content from multiple producers of educational content in line with school curriculum and then delivers it across the country leveraging the rapidly proliferating affordable smartphones. Besides providing content, it also uses technology for providing continuous assessments and analytics enabling the user to get a personalized learning paths and relevant content.

Prachi Windlass, director for Dell Foundation’s India education portfolio said that most educational tech companies are investing their time and resources in creating more content and here ConveGenius is shunning the beaten path and actually leveraging existing content and focussing on delivery the content effectively.

The start-up has started focussing on gamification in order to improve learning outcomes and further create multi-lingual after the infusion of funds.

“We are excited to be backed by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation in our endeavours to reach 3 million children across India and other emerging markets by 2020, thus working towards bridging the gap between the availability and accessibility of good quality educational content,” says Jairaj Bhattacharya, co-founder and CEO of ConveGenius.

At a modest annual fee of USD67, the application has already touched the life of 90,000 Indian students as well as in learning centers in Singapore.
